Dry-Pail
Industry standard recommends “dry-pailing” for used cloth nappies. A dry pail is a term used for an open aired bucket storage system which allows maximum aeration of your items until machine-wash day. Preferably a strong reusable plastic option allowing you to regularly also wash your dry-pail alongside your nappies.
View Dry-PailWill my dry-pail smell?
We recommend storing your dry pail in a highly ventilated and dry space, this will minimise any smells. We don’t find any lingering smells and it is not a common problem. You may like to drop some essential oils in the base compartment of your Strucket where needed.
It is not recommended to store your soiled items for longer than 2-3 days before machine washing.
Do I soak my reusables in the dry-pail?
In days gone by, cloth terry squares used to be soaked and bleached, sitting in buckets awaiting their main wash.
This practice is no longer supported nor encouraged for modern cloth nappies, as our machines will do the brunt of the hard work for us!
Dry-pailing avoids your nappy storage becoming a breeding ground for bacteria, so the drier the storage solution - the better.
Do I need a dry-pail liner?
Using dry-pail-liners, also known as large wet-bags, are not advised as a storage solution for your nappies. Wet bags are for temporary storage of soiled items for upwards of 24 hours (Eg Day outings, overnight stays, day care etc). It is not advised to hold a bulk amount of soiling and damp items in a sealed environment for longer periods.
Stain Remover

This bar has reportedly successfully removed dirt, grease, oil, grass stains, red wine, blood and ink from textiles!
See Stain RemoverHow can I best remove stains from my reusables?
Our natural fibre and polyester inners across our range of reusables may result in lingering markings on occasion over repeated use and this is not uncommon and indeed normal. You can rest assured that when following our recommend product washing guides, that items will be sufficiently cleaned.
Marks that can cause concern are potential mould spots which will appear as small spots in dark green/dark grey/black. This will be due to insufficient washing routine or when pads were not sufficiently dried before storing away in between uses.
We recommend using Tuffy bars for optimum stain removal, you can lather items and hand rinse or keep the lather on the items and add to your machine wash.
How do I use Tuffy?
Simply moisten the stain and work the netted soap in to a lather on the stain. Then rinse. Not only will your item look fresh, but it will also smell fresh!
*For more delicate items such as cloth pads and nappy inserts, you may find removing the bar from the net more gentle on the fabrics.
Should I use Tuffy in or out of the provided net?
Your Tuffy bar will arrive packaged in a net, of which can be used to help offer a deep agitation to soiled stubborn marks.
For more delicate items, such as cloth pads or various apparel, you may wish to remove the netting (or peel half back so you can still use the netting on the other half of the bar for other items) and then gently rub the non-netted side in to the marks to protect your fabric.
